MUNCY TWP SUPERVISOR JAILED FOR CONTEMPT
A Lycoming County judge has sentenced Muncy Township Supervisor Terri Lauchle to six months in prison for contempt of court after she again refused to sign a lot consolidation plan tied to a proposed Bass Pro Shops development near the former Lycoming Mall. President Judge Eric Linhardt had previously ordered Lauchle to sign the document and imposed a 500-dollar-per-day fine for noncompliance. In court Thursday, Lauchle told the judge she still would not sign the plan. Linhardt then ordered her jailed and directed her to pay 7-thousand dollars in accumulated fines upon her release. Officials say the approved consolidation is needed to move the project forward.

The seven-member commission is tasked with studying options, including Home Rule, and drafting a potential charter for voters to consider. The commission’s next meeting is scheduled for July 2nd at Trade and Transit Two in downtown Williamsport.
RESIDENTS URGED TO CHECK MEASLES VACCINATION STATUS
Health officials are urging Pennsylvanians to make sure they’re protected against measles as cases continue to rise. The CDC reports 32 confirmed cases in Pennsylvania and more than 19-hundred nationwide. Public health advocates say measles is one of the most contagious diseases and note that vaccination rates in Pennsylvania have fallen below the 95 percent level recommended to prevent outbreaks. Officials say most recent cases involve people who were unvaccinated or unsure of their vaccination status. Anyone who believes they’ve been exposed should contact the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Troopers say he later entered the bar carrying a shotgun and made threatening remarks before surrendering when police arrived. Fairbanks is charged with terroristic threats, DUI and other offenses and is being held on 100-thousand dollars bail.

Officials say regional airports like Williamsport play a vital role in connecting communities and supporting local economic growth.

Officials say no operational changes are planned. Council is expected to discuss the proposal at its June 8 meeting.
