OUT OF STATE MAN JAILED FOR POSSESSING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
A Georgia man is facing serious charges after a child exploitation investigation tied to Lycoming County. State police say 30-year-old John Tyler Moreland, of Macon, is accused of possessing more than 100 explicit videos of children, including one involving a local minor. Investigators say he posed as a girl online to trick the victim into sending explicit content. The case began when the child’s mother discovered the material on a phone. Police, along with the FBI, tracked Moreland and arrested him April 17. He is now in Lycoming County Prison without bail and awaiting a preliminary hearing.

Orso had been representing the township in ongoing court challenges tied to plans for a Bass Pro Shops outlet, as well as proposals for a Wawa and hotel near the former Lycoming Mall. Officials have not released a reason for the resignation, and the township now faces another transition in legal leadership.

An increased police presence was seen at Danville Middle School this week after students reported a potential threat. District officials say the concern was investigated with local law enforcement, and police determined the student involved did not have access to weapons and there is no credible danger. Extra officers were on campus as a precaution to reassure students and staff. School leaders are thanking students who spoke up and reminding families about the importance of reporting concerns and avoiding threatening language.

Company officials say the projects meet environmental standards, but residents remain concerned as development moves forward.
