POLICE ARREST WOMAN WANTED ON PROSTITUTION CHARGES
A Williamsport woman wanted on prostitution charges was arrested after driving through a closed crash scene in Northumberland County. According to North Central PA dot com, state police say 43-year-old Christie Sullivan was pulled over on I-180 in Delaware Township on September 26 after ignoring a road-closed sign. Troopers say she admitted to using cocaine and alcohol and was required to drive with an ignition interlock. A search of her rental car uncovered cocaine, oxycodone, and fraudulent credit cards. Sullivan was taken into custody, and the investigation continues.
FATAL ACCIDENT IN BRADFORD COUNTY FRIDAY
One person is dead after a two-car crash early Friday on Route 6 in Standing Stone Township, Bradford County. State police report that the collision happened around 2 a.m. between Red Rock Road and West Valley Road near Wysox. PennDOT says the crash shut down the highway for several hours but after crews cleared the scene, Route 6 reopened around 9 a.m. The cause of the deadly crash remains under investigation.
NEW CAMPAIGN FOR EASTERN LYCOMING BRANCH OF THE YMCA
The Eastern Lycoming Branch YMCA kicked off its Community Capital Campaign this week, launching a major expansion project to better serve families across the region. According to a news release, the Y plans to add childcare classrooms, expand wellness areas, and improve community facilities. Executive Director Abigail Shrom says $1.7 million of the $2.5 million goal has already been raised. The event honored longtime supporters, including the late State Representative Garth Everett. Donations to support the project can be made online at rvrymca.org.
ROTARY CLUB DISTRIBUTES DICTIONARIES FOR STUDENTS IN MILTON
The Milton Rotary Club is helping local students build their vocabulary and love of learning. According to the Daily Item, club members recently distributed 264 dictionaries to third graders in the Milton Area and Warrior Run school districts, 144 at Baugher Elementary and 120 at Warrior Run Elementary. Club officials say the project sparks excitement among students and supports teachers in the classroom. Over the past 21 years, the Milton Rotary has donated more than 6,000 dictionaries and invested over 1,500 volunteer hours in the effort.
30 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON FOR HUGHESVILLE MAN
A Hughesville man has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for producing child pornography, according to the Williamsport Sun-Gazette. Federal prosecutors say 49-year-old Christopher Stout coerced a 14-year-old girl into sexual acts over a cellular network and later targeted other minors. U.S. District Judge Matthew Brann also ordered Stout to pay $10,000 in restitution, register as a sex offender, and serve 10 years of supervised release. Stout, a former Marine who was given an honorable discharge, still faces related state child sex charges in Lycoming County court.
POLICE ARREST WOMAN WHO ALLEGEDLY ATTACKED OFFICERS
A South Williamsport woman is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly attacking officers trying to arrest her this summer. According to the Sun Gazette, police say 27-year-old Lilly Isabel Lee ran half-clothed from her Riverside Drive home on July 29 when officers arrived with several warrants. She reportedly kicked, bit, and spit on multiple officers during two separate struggles before being taken into custody. Lee was recently in court and faces charges including aggravated assault and resisting arrest. She remains jailed in Lycoming County Prison on $15,000 bail.
THREE RECOGNIZED WITH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AWARDS
Three local leaders and organizations were honored with Chamber Impact Awards at the Central Pennsylvania Chamber of Commerce meeting last week in Kelly Township. According to the Daily Item, the Milton Area School District, Rose Williams of the Getting Ahead Foundation, and attorney Terry Baldwin were recognized for their contributions to the community. More than 230 people attended the event at the Silver Moon Banquet Hall, where keynote speaker Dr. Michael Diller of Wellspan Wilhaven discussed the power of human connection and hope in leadership.
PLANS FOR UNION COUNTY 250TH CELEBRATION
Union County’s America250 Celebration Committee is planning a yearlong slate of monthly events throughout 2026 to mark the nation’s 250th. According to the News Item, projects include a newly planted Liberty Tree at the Dale/Engle/Walker House, a $20,000–backed Veterans July 4th parade with a drone show and fireworks, RiverStage’s “1776” June 19th thru 28th, a covered bridge showcase, countywide decorating and photo contests, student essay and art contests, and “Bells Across Pennsylvania.” Volunteers are welcome to join in.
