ELEVATED LEAD LEVELS IN SOME MUNCY WATER
Elevated lead levels have been found in some homes served by the Muncy Borough Municipal Authority. According to the Sun Gazette, officials say more than 10 percent of water samples taken between June and September exceeded the EPA’s action level for lead. The issue is believed to stem from copper service lines fused with lead solder, which can leach into drinking water. The authority has notified the state DEP and plans more testing to identify the extent of contamination. Residents are urged to clean faucet aerators, run cold water before use, and consider filters certified for lead removal. Questions can be directed to 570-935-0087.
