UNUSUAL ACCIDENT INJURES THREE ON ROUTE 15
State police are investigating a freak accident that happened on Route 15 in Armstrong Township Monday afternoon after a tire came loose from a northbound Ford, bounced over a Jersey barrier, and shattered the windshield of a southbound car around 1:30 p.m. According to the Sun Gazette, 3 family members were taken to UPMC Williamsport, with the father critically injured, while the Ford’s driver was unhurt. Route 15 South, from South Williamsport to Route 54 in Clinton Township, was closed for several hours but reopened yesterday just after 5:30 p.m.
TWO RENOVO MEN CHARGED FOR ASSAULT, DRUG CHARGES AND MORE
Two men from Renovo were arrested on August 27th after the police investigated a fight and assault involving several individuals. According to the Record Online, 27year old Jerrett Williams, was wanted on warrants for assault and false identification, while 23-year-old Jose Jaimez faced warrants for aggravated assault and drug delivery. Both were taken to the Clinton County Correctional Facility. Williams was arraigned and released on $10,000 unsecured bail, and Jaimez is being held pending extradition to Philadelphia on outstanding warrants.
BIPARTISAN BILL INTRODUCED TO PHASE OUT PFAS

PFAS are man-made chemicals linked to health risks and environmental contamination. The legislation allows fire companies to use grant funding for proper disposal of PFAS foam and coordinates with the state DEP for safe handling. Lawmakers say the bill protects firefighters, who face higher exposure, and safeguards Pennsylvania’s water and soil, while maintaining exemptions for critical sites like airports and chemical plants.
SHOP WITH A COP A SUCCESS WITH LOCAL KIDS, LAW ENFORCEMENT
Members of the Williamsport Bureau of Police joined Pennsylvania State Police, the Lycoming County Sheriff’s Office, and Penn College Police Saturday for their third annual “Shop with a Cop” event at Target. According to North Central PA dot com, 10 local students picked out school supplies, clothing, snacks, and games to prepare for the new school year. The program, supported by a grant to the Williamsport Police and the YWCA of Northcentral Pennsylvania, gives students a fun, meaningful way to start school while connecting with local law enforcement.
ATV ACCIDENT INJURES UNITYVILLE MAN
A 32-year-old Unityville man was critically injured Saturday night when he lost control of a side-by-side ATV and crashed in front of the firehouse at Route 42 and Talmar Road. According to the Sun Gazette, Justin Stackhouse was on the vehicle just before 10pm and was ejected from the vehicle after it landed on its side. He was transported by ambulance to a nearby helicopter landing zone and flown to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. State police and firefighters from Unityville, Lairdsville, and Muncy Area responded to the scene.
MAN USES CHILD TO STEAL CIGARETTES
A Shamokin man is accused of using a child in a scheme to steal thousands of dollars in cigarettes from a 7-Eleven in Middleburg. According to North Central PA dot com, police say 42-year-old Jason Finfinger sent a boy into the store’s restroom, which gave him access to the office where cigarettes were stored. Surveillance video shows Finfinger carrying out cartons through an emergency exit, while the boy acted as a decoy. Investigators say 38 cartons valued at more than forty-six hundred dollars were stolen. Finfinger faces felony burglary, conspiracy, and child corruption charges. Bail was set at twenty-eight hundred dollars, which he has not posted.
NEW ZIP CODE DISCUSSED IN LOCUST TOWNSHIP
Locust Township officials want to know if residents there support creating a new zip code. According to the News Item, the issue came up after concerns that properties listed under neighboring Kulpmont or Mount Carmel zip codes may cost the township tax revenue. Township supervisors said a request would need to be filed with the U.S. Postal Service, though one supervisor said residents he spoke with opposed the idea. Officials may post a survey online or hold a public hearing before moving forward.
Rider Park near Warrensville is opening its doors for its annual Open House on September 14 from noon to 5 p.m. According to the Sun Gazette, the free, family-friendly event is hosted by the First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania, and invites visitors to explore the 867 acres of woodlands and meadows as well as participate in hands-on activities, scenic hikes, birdwatching, live falcon exhibits, and nature crafts. Parking is available at the Eldred Township Volunteer Fire Company with a complimentary shuttle to the park. The Open House will be held rain or shine, and closed-toe shoes are recommended for hiking and outdoor activities.

Florida State became the first school to be fined $50,000 by the ACC for violating the newly enacted event security policy after fans stormed the field following Saturday’s 31-17 victory over Alabama.
The league policy, which was put into place starting this season, applies to football and men’s and women’s basketball games and was designed to protect the safety of players, coaches, officials and fans.
