MAN WHO STRIPPED DOWN AFTER CRASH IDENTIFIED
The man who stripped naked and ran from the scene of a violent crash in Williamsport has been identified as 32-year-old Kyle Orlanda Praster. Police say Praster intentionally slammed his Hyundai into another car on East Third Street June 27, causing $22,000 in damage and pushing the vehicle 100 yards. After the crash, he fled on foot—removing all his clothes—then struck an officer in the face before being subdued with a taser. Praster is facing multiple charges and is jailed on $30,000 bail.
PERSON OF INTEREST CRASHES CAR
A high-speed police chase late Tuesday morning ended in a crash on Lycoming Creek Road in Old Lycoming Township. State troopers say the driver slammed his car into a concrete barrier after fleeing from his home in Loyalsock Township. He suffered head and facial injuries and was taken to UPMC Williamsport. The man, whose name has not been released, is a person of interest in an aggravated assault case in the Muncy area. Charges are pending. Emergency crews from multiple agencies responded, and traffic was rerouted around the crash scene.
FIGHT LEADS TO KNIFE THROWING
A Sunbury man is facing aggravated assault charges after allegedly throwing a knife during a drunken fight with family members. According to NorthcentralPA.com, Police say 31-year-old Juan Jimenez-Bermudez attacked two relatives and threw a kitchen knife at them during a June 28 incident. One of the victims ran to the police station and pounded on the back door for help in the early morning hours. No serious injuries were reported.
SUNDAY BAN ON HUNTING IS OVER
Pennsylvania’s centuries-old ban on Sunday hunting is officially over. Governor Josh Shapiro signed legislation allowing the Game Commission to open as many Sundays for hunting as it chooses. Supporters say this modernizes outdated rules, helps manage growing deer populations, and boosts hunter participation. Opponents had long raised concerns about trespassing and disruption, but farmers warmed to the idea as deer damage increased. The law includes stricter anti-trespassing measures and takes effect in 60 days, ahead of fall hunting seasons. The Game Commission will soon decide exactly which Sundays will be open.
MAN CHARGED FOR ABUSE OF CORPSE
A Milton man accused of burying a newborn baby in a backyard is scheduled for a court hearing on July 23. Media sources report 29-year-old Donan Maradiaga is jailed and facing charges including criminal conspiracy and abuse of a corpse. Investigators allege a teenager in the home gave birth without medical help, placed the struggling infant in a drawer, and Maradiaga later buried the baby after it died. The case remains under investigation.
WOMAN PLEADS GUILTY FOR ATTACKING A PREGNANT WOMAN
A 21-year-old Lock Haven woman pleaded guilty this week to charges for attacking a pregnant woman in April. Reports from NorthcentralPa.com show Hailey Gillott was arrested along with two teens after assaulting a 19-yr-old at Hoberman Park on April 1. Prosecutors say the victim was punched and kicked repeatedly during the attack. Gillott faces up to 38 years in prison when she’s sentenced. The teens involved are also facing charges in juvenile court. Police say the incident was planned and not random.
EFFORTS MADE TO CRACK DOWN ON AI SCAMS
Governor Josh Shapiro has signed Senate Bill 649, cracking down on AI-driven scams in Pennsylvania. The law targets non-consensual digital forgeries like deepfakes and voice clones used to defraud or harm others. Offenders can now face third-degree felony charges, including for schemes such as mimicking a grandchild’s voice to trick seniors into sending money. This follows previous legislation banning AI-generated child sexual abuse material and intimate images, reinforcing protections against AI abuse statewide.
