A Hughesville man will spend 30 years in federal prison after investigators uncovered a disturbing online network of child predators. According to North Central PA dot com, 49 year-old Christopher Michael Stout pleaded guilty to producing child pornography after posing as a teenager to exploit minors online. Prosecutors say Stout exchanged illegal images with hundreds of contacts across multiple platforms. Chief Judge Matthew Brann imposed the maximum sentence, plus $10,000 restitution and 10 years of supervised release. Stout still faces more than 100 additional child pornography charges in Lycoming County, with a plea hearing set for November 21.

CHARGES AGAINST GROUP WHO FALSIFIED PA VOTER REGSITRATION
Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday has filed criminal charges against six street canvassers and a field director accused of submitting falsified voter registration forms ahead of the 2024 General Election. According to North Central PA dot com, investigators reviewed thousands of forms across Berks, Lancaster, and York counties, many of which were flagged as invalid. Sunday says the motive wasn’t political — it was financial, as workers falsified forms to meet quotas. County election offices caught the discrepancies, and Sunday praised their role in protecting election integrity. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
EUREKA STARTS CLEAN UP EFFORTS THIS WEEK
Cleanup efforts are underway at the closed Eureka Resources wastewater facility in Williamsport, months after an oily substance leaked into the West Branch of the Susquehanna River. According to PennLive, the company began removing wastewater from tanks this week — several weeks past a state Department of Environmental Protection deadline. The DEP says only wastewater is being trucked to a licensed disposal site in Ohio, while waste oil remains in place. About 8,600 of more than 11,000 gallons spilled in August have been recovered. Violations under state environmental laws remain pending against the company.

A new visitor center at the trail’s northern end will open this fall, highlighting local history and resources. Governor Shapiro has prioritized outdoor recreation as a key driver of Pennsylvania’s economy.
