LEWISBURG MEMORIAL TO BE MOVED FOR BUSS STOP CONSTRUCTION
The Purple Heart Memorial in Hufnagle park in Lewisburg will be moved 50 feet to make way for a new covered bus stop. According to the Daily item, T-Ross brothers of Milton will donate their services to undertake the moving project that officials of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter in Lewisburg oppose, saying it’s disrespectful to move the monument after so many worked to install it in 2002. Lewisburg Neighborhoods Program say a new grant is in place to renovate and reallocate the installation of the bus shelter and the monument location is the only feasible location for the bus stop due to floodplain considerations. A rededication ceremony is planned for when the monument is moved later this summer.
