ICE AGENTS TAKE THREE INTO CUSTODY AFTER LOYALSOCK ACCIDENT
A Loyalsock Township man was injured in a motorcycle accident Monday morning in which the driver and passengers in the car that struck him were allegedly illegal immigrants and taken into custody at the scene. According to the Sun Gazette, the biker, 27 year old Zachary Fox was struck at West Fourth and Locust streets and hospitalized with broken bones. The driver of the Hyundai Elantra, who only had a driver’s license from Peru, fled the scene but was stopped at another location with front end damage to his vehicle consistent with the motorcycle accident and taken into custody. Two others with him at the scene who also had questionable identification and were also detained and questioned by local Immigration Customs Enforcement Officers and remain in custody today.
SUNBURY MAN ARRESTED FOR INJURING INFANT
A 23 year old man from Sunbury is in custody for injuring an infant who he said interrupted him playing video games on April 28th. According to North Central PA dot com, police filed child endangerment charges against Jeremy Michael Erb Jr. after a 5-month-old infant was brought to the Geisinger emergency department with injuries. State police at Selinsgrove say hospital officials observed that the baby had multiple rib fractures in various stages of healing and Erb admitted that there were several incidents over the last few months when he injured the infant but didn’t seek medical attention. Erb is facing felony aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children and more and is incarcerated in lieu of 150 thousand dollars bail.
LAUREL HEALTH OPENS APPLICATIONS FOR PCT GRANTS
Laurel Health Centers are accepting applications for students looking to join Penn College’s dental hygienist or LPN programs with special preference given to applicants in Bradford, Potter, or Tioga counties. According to the Laurel Health Foundation they annually provide up to $12,500 in assistance per person to qualified candidates as well as guaranteed job placement at a Laurel Health clinic for two years after graduation. ELECTION DAY TODAY IN PENNSYLVANIA
It’s Election Day in Pennsylvania. Polls are open to choose municipal lawmakers from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. If you are in line by the time the polls close at 8 p.m., you will get to vote today. In Pennsylvania, only first-time voters at a given polling location need to present ID. If you have voted at your polling place before, no ID is required. If you lost or did not receive your mail ballot, you can still go to your polling place to cast a ballot, but instead of voting normally, you will be instructed to fill out a provisional ballot. SUSPECT IN ATV INCIDENT ON ROUTE 220 ARRESTED
A man who police say failed to stop when they pursued him while illegally driving an ATV along Route 220 between Main Street and Thomas Ave in Potter County April 5th is facing charges of felony fleeing and more. Officers say after 42-year-old Jason Yahn was taken into custody following a very brief pursuit with Lycoming Regional police on May 7 that began at Second and Memorial avenues, and ended at Grier Street following him crashing into a pickup truck, he was identified as the operator of the ATV. Yahn eluded police after fleeing from the Route 220 exit at Thomas Street, turning onto Railroad Street. At the time, Yahn was on a court-ordered GPS monitor and his whereabouts matched the police pursuit events on April 5th. Yahn who was incarcerated on several bench warrants is in the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of an additional $100,000 bail.
JURY DETERMINES MONTANDON MAN IS GUILTY IN STABBING
A man who was on trial last week for a stabbing in Montandon in 2024 that ultimately killed the victim, was found guilty by a jury last Thursday. According to North Central PA dot com, a jury found 23-year-old Preston Robert Bennett II guilty of voluntary manslaughter and aggravated assault for the stabbing of 24 year old Kyle Christensen near the 300 block of Main Street. The murder weapon was recovered when police sought Bennet who had fled from the home of a friend who called 911. He is in jail at this time with no bail and a sentencing hearing July 21st.
RAPID DNA ANALYZERS DEPLOYED TO STATE POLICE
Rapid DNA technology is now available to the Pennsylvania State Police after troops received fully automated genetic analyzers that allow them to get information about suspects in as little as 90 minutes – outside a traditional lab environment. According to state police officials, the technology helps increase investigative efficiency, for accuracy, fairness, and better outcomes. Only Forensic Service Unit (FSU) members who have successfully completed the Department’s required training are authorized to operate any of the 15 analyzers that were recently deployed. Rapid DNA analysis helps develop investigative leads, assist in suspect identification, and help exclude individuals who are not suspects.
MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY IN WILLIAMSPORT
The Annual Memorial Day ceremony will be held at Lycoming County Veterans Memorial Park, on Saturday at 11am. According to the Lycoming County Veterans Memorial Park Commission and the Lycoming County Veterans Council, the event will feature keynote speaker Captain Matthew B. Aaron, USN, Ret. who is currently the President & CEO of Special Olympics Pennsylvania. Tents will be provided for the day which will go on rain or shine at West Fourth Street and Wahoo Drive.
