DRUGS SEIZED FROM SPRUCE STREET HOME

A Williamsport man has been arrested for felony possession with intent to deliver after police seized a large amount of prescription drugs, fentanyl and opioids at a home on Spruce Street on Tuesday.  According to court records, 60 year old Charles Edward Johnson tried to tell officers the drugs were for his personal use, but police note none of the narcotics taken from his home had any prescription information. Their street value was estimated at approximately 22 thousand dollars.  Johnson has been jailed at Lycoming County Prison in lieu of 95 thousand dollars bail.

MIDDLEBURG WOMAN STEALS FROM RELATIVE

A Snyder County jury has convicted a Middleburg woman of taking money from an elderly relative as she acted as her power of attorney.  According to the Daily Item, 55 year old, Debbie Beachel made withdrawals in excess of 30 thousand dollars from the relative’s bank accounts between 2016 and 2018.  Police say they were contacted by family members after the family noticed large amounts of money going missing.  The jury decided that Beachel violated her duty as power of attorney.  Sentencing will be held on a future date.

COUNTERFEIT MONEY COULD BE IN DANVILLE

Fake currency that says “for motion picture use only” could be circulating in the Danville area.  According to the Danville Business Alliance phony $100 bills were found along Route 54 in Riverside and Danville police are investigating and have issued an advisory to area consumers.  If you see paper money along the road do not pick it up, but you can contact police.  Businesses are advised to make sure they use counterfeit bill detection pens during transactions with bigger bills.

LYCOMING COUNTY GOP SENATE RECOUNT COMPLETE

Lycoming County’s Director of Elections, Forrest Lehman told the Commissioners this week that they have completed the required recount of votes in the US Senate Republican Primary and that the results are accurate and the system is working correctly, according to the Sun Gazette. McCormick garnered 36.2% of the vote in Lycoming County opposed to Oz’s 31%, however in all of Pennsylvania, that difference is much smaller. As of the first unofficial count, the two candidates are within 900 votes of each other.  The recount should be complete across the commonwealth as of June 8. 

NO CAUSE FOUND IN KULPMONT FIRES

Northumberland fire officials say the fire that badly damaged four double homes in Kulpmont early Wednesday has been ruled undetermined.  According to North Central Pa dot com, 22 people have been left homeless after the two-alarm fire began after 1:30am Wednesday along the back of a home Spruce Street and and spread between the narrowly spaced houses along Wheatley Avenue.  About 60 firefighters from four counties arrived to fight the blaze.   The Red Cross has been called in to assist the displaced families.

MAN CHARGED FOR STABBING RESIDENT WITH A FORK

A Sunbury man has been charged with disorderly conduct after an argument in an upper Augusta home led to him stabbing a resident there in the hand with a fork.  According to Court records, 18 year old Keigan Reinard allegedly threatened two residents May 24th and police responded.  Reinard has been charged with disorderly conduct as well as first-degree misdemeanor terroristic threats and simple assault, plus harassment.

COUPLE ARRESTED AT MONTOURSVILLE WALMART

Police arrested a man and woman at the Montoursville Wal-Mart Sunday. The woman, 36 year old Stephanie Louiz of Corning, NY, was seen on surveillance taking a wallet from a store employee’s car.  She then entered the store while the driver of the Jeep Patriot in which they arrived\, waited for her.  Police were called to investigate that theft and found Smith still parked next to the victim’s car.  Police found out the Jeep was stolen and took Smith into custody.  Louiz was arrested inside the store’s electronics department.  She was found with the victim’s wallet in her possession and with a small amount of drugs and drug paraphernalia in her purse.  Both were incarcerated at Lycoming County Prison.

GAS PRICES A LITTLE LOWER

There’s a little relief in gas prices.  Average prices in Pennsylvania have fallen 1.5 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging four dollars and 75 cents a gallon today, according to GasBuddy.com.  The survey of over 5 thousand stations in Pennsylvania determines that average. Prices in Pennsylvania are 41.3 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand a dollar 59 a gallon higher than a year ago. The cheapest station in Pennsylvania was priced at $4.15/g yesterday in Chester County.

AJ Locke, a quarterback from Hicksville, New York, announced he has committed to Penn State Class of 2023 as a preferred walk-on, with a message on his Twitter account yesterday.  However, sources say, leading quarterback from the April Blue White game last year, Drew Allar, could be the next in line to lead the Penn State offense.
