The South Williamsport Area School District will transition to remote instruction for all students K-12 beginning Dec.1st-Dec4th. Dr> Mark Stamm superintendent added that some students with special needs will resume in-person instruction on Dec 2nd.  Dr. Stamm also said that school does plan on returning to in person learning on Dec 7th. All District students are eligible to receive free meals which will be available for drive-by pick-up at the high school entrance daily from 11am-1230pm.

A small group of volunteers prepared turkey dinners in the city of Sunbury. For the last 21 years Rhonda Fisher and her group. Have served up the meals to more than 1,000 people but with covid-19 this year she hand delivered them to the high rises and at Cameron park in Sunbury.

Declaring America is back. President elect Biden introduced his national security team, his first offering of how he’ll shift from Trump-era America first policies by relying on experts from the Democratic establishment to be some of his most important advisors. The nominees are all Washington veterans with ties to the Obama Administration.

State Representative David Rowe created a stir on social media Wednesday night when he shared a photograph of himself holding a drink in his hand at a bar and a cell phone showing the time as 5:01. The post is an apparent reference to the Thanksgiving eve drinking restrictions imposed by Gov. Tom Wolf. The state representative has been a  vocal critic of Governor Wolfs covid-19 policies.

Mexico’s anti-monopoly commission said Thursday it has begun a formal investigation into possible monopolistic practices in wholesale and retail goods distribution and sales, a probe that appears to involve Wal-Mart’s Mexican subsidiary. While the Federal Economic Competition Commission did not identify its target, Wal-Mart de Mexico told investors earlier this week that it had been notified of an investigation involving the company in exactly those areas.It was not clear what the supposed practices involved, but as Mexico’s largest retailer, Wal-Mart has significant leverage with suppliers.The company said it has acted in accordance with Mexican laws and will defend itself.

No country has been involved in Somalia’s future as much as the United States. Now the Trump administration is thinking of withdrawing the several hundred U.S. military troops from the Horn of Africa nation at what some experts call the worst possible time. Three decades of chaos, from warlords to al-Qaida to the emergence of an Islamic State-linked group, have ripped apart the country that only in the past few years has begun to find its footing. The U.S. Embassy returned to Somalia just last year, 28 years after diplomats and staffers fled.

Several area fire crews responded Wednesday night to a fire in Northumberland county. The 2 alarm fire was at Stiely’s gagrage near treverton. The building was heavily damaged. No cause for the fire has been determined.

Volunteers from the American Rescue Workers handed out Thanksgiving meals to people in the Williamsport area. Typically the organization host a sit down dinner but with covid-19 they could not. So they passed out over 200 meals instead they also got to take home a bag of groceries.

The state reports 8,425 additional covid-19 cases today bringing the state total to 336,254. There are 118 new deaths reported bringing the state total to 10,213. Lycoming county has reported 85 new cases. With 40 patients hospitalized, 13 in the ICU, with 8 on ventilators. Sullivan county reports 3 new today. Clinton county reports 20 new today and Tioga County reports 32 new today. Montour county has 8 new cases with 34 in the ICU, and 15 on ventilators. In Union county 78 new cases have been reported. Northunberland county has 59 new cases. Snyder County has 20 new cases.
